Boy, that was FUN! Join us next year: October 19-21, 2012!

We'll leave up the info for our 2011 event so folks can read about what they missed. We'll be updating our website in spring 2012. Come back and check it out!

We are proud and privileged to welcome back...

Casey Schneider & Mike Faltesek
and
Carla Heiney & Nick Williams

These folks have so much Lindy knowledge that we just had to bring them back again this year so we could tap into more of those Lindy resources in their collective brains. Plus they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and dance with! Each of these dancers are among the best Lindy Hoppers in the world today and are critically-acclaimed for their innovative styles on the dance floor and in the classroom. Don't believe us or don't know who they are. Don't take our word for it. Check them out online and watch videos of them (collectively and individually) on You Tube and elsewhere and decide for yourself. We think you'll tend to agree with us. ; )

Their insights, knowledge of the history of the dance, and their inspiring dancing will help us all become better dancers. They'll be right here in Richmond in October, so come on out and experience them first-hand!

We will once again be offering workshops in BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, and ADVANCED tracks. Folks new to swing dancing will have to opportunity to learn the basics in the Beginner classes from some of the best dancers on the planet. In order to provide an optimal experience for the beginner Lindy Hopper, the Beginner class size will be limited to 20, making them like group private lessons. Plus we'll keep it to 4 workshops (two each day) in order to maximize retention and to prevent brain overload. And there will be time to practice at the end of each day. Dancers with a good handle on Lindy basics will learn new moves, styling, and concepts in the Intermediate classes that will make dancing more fun and creative. And once again we will be offering Advanced level workshops for those Lindy Hoppers who are comfortable with their dancing, styling, and musicality and are interested in progressing further.

DANCING? YOU BET! We'll have three dances with live bands (Gypsy Roots, the Blue Crescent Syncopators, and the Doctors of Jazz) plus late night dancing on Friday and Saturday with special guest DJs, Bill Speidel (Norfolk, VA) and Laura Windley (Durham, NC)! And we'll have the return of the wildly popular Jick and Jall competition!

(slightly) Bigger and (LOTS) Better! We're always trying to improve on each edition of Jammin' but we definitely don't want to lose the intimate feeling of our humble event. This year we've added one intermediate and one advanced workshop. In addition, we're adding a stretching and body mechanics class taught but our Wellness Director, Jason Sager, who will help you understand how to take care of your bodies and keep them ready for the Lindy dance floor! Jason will also be available during the weekend for Rolfing sessions to relieve your aching muscles and release all that built up tension in your body.

Please feel free to email us at info@jamminonthejames.com with any questions you may have.

Thanks, and see you in Richmond in October!
